FAQ
I'm going camping for the first time – how does it work?
It’s a very basic question, but the short answer is that you do pretty much the same as at any other accommodation. Book your stay (the easiest and cheapest way is via our online booking at https://www.camphverringe.dk/booking/), then just show up on the day at the time stated in your confirmation. It’s that easy! You can also just drive in and hope it’s not fully booked.
Do you need a caravan, camper or tent to stay at a campsite?
Most people do, but we also offer several different cabins, as well as tents and shelters. Please note that we recommend booking well in advance if you wish to rent a cabin or tent during public holidays and the high season, as they are rented out quickly. Here is a list of the options we offer:
| Type | Occupancy | Kitchen | Bathroom & toilet | Duvet & pillow |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Romsø cabin | 6 people | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Viby cabin | 4 people* | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Bøgebjerg I | 2 adults + 2 children | Kitchenette | No | Yes |
| Bøgebjerg II | 2 adults + 4 children | Kitchenette | No | Yes |
| Safari tent | 4 people* | Fridge and sink with cold water | No | Yes |
| Stærekassen | 2 people | No | No | No |
| Shelter | 4 people | No | No | No |
*In the Viby cabin, 2 extra people can be added for a fee, and in the Safari tents 4 extra people can be added for a fee.
Do we need to bring our own linen and towels?
You can rent a linen package from us. The package contains linen and 2 towels. We recommend that you book this in advance. Please note that it is not permitted to sleep in the rental units without linen on the beds.
Which season is best for camping?
It all depends on what you want. Summer is always the most popular camping season, when you can enjoy the sunshine and swim in the sea or our heated pool. More and more people are also discovering the charm of camping in spring and autumn. Camp Hverringe is located right on the Great Belt, surrounded by fields and forest, so there is always something to do regardless of the season. Off-season is probably the best time for those who want peace and quiet, but since our site is large, it’s also possible to find a quiet spot in the high season. From Camp Hverringe there is only 10 km to Kerteminde, where you will find exiting events all year round.
How do I know if camping would suit me?
Hmm, that’s a very subjective question. Many people have an idea of what camping is like, but both tents, campers and caravans have changed a lot since camping meant a holiday in a small pointed tent. New caravans offer everything your heart could desire, and the new tents are easy to pitch and can easily accommodate a large family. But if you still want to sleep in a real bed, both our cabins and safari tents offer this. Many families with children also quickly discover that a campsite full of other children, animals, nature and playgrounds is the obvious holiday choice for the whole family!
Can you buy food?
Yes, in our small shop you can buy various groceries to prepare in our kitchens, or a delicious pizza ready to eat. Outside the shop’s opening hours, there is self-service from 7 am to 9:30 pm. In the high season, our Pool Café and Bummiis Thai Mad is also open and sells various snacks. Hindsholm and Kerteminde are also full of passionate people selling all kinds of treats – from fresh fish to fruit, welfare meat and delicacies – so why not take a bike ride and find your dinner while enjoying the beautiful nature?
What can you do at a campsite?
Well, how much time do you have? Camp Hverringe is full of fun things to do. You can read much more under the “Experiences” tab on this website, but let me mention a few things. Bøgebjerg Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Kerteminde Municipality, freely accessible all year round and just a stone’s throw from the campsite. Our heated pool is open during the A+B periods, and if you stay overnight at the site, you have free access to it from 9 am to 9 pm every day. You can also rent SUP boards, sit-on-top kayaks and canoes, jump on our bouncy cushions and trampolines, play on our playgrounds or perhaps visit our goats and ponies. We also rent out bikes so you can explore Hindsholm.
It’s important to point out that you don’t have to do all these things just because you’re staying at a campsite. You can just as well use it as a place to sleep and spend your days sailing or exploring Funen, the green heart of Denmark – because as we Funen locals say, “Fyn er fin!”
What should I do if I arrive after the reception is closed?
As long as you arrive no later than 11 pm and no earlier than 7 am, you can always get into your booked unit, provided it is free, remember that check in is at 2 pm for pitches and 3 pm for rental units. The reception is normally open 8–16 on weekdays, 8–18 on Fridays and Saturdays, with extended opening hours during the high season and public holidays. You can use our self check-in, like at an airport, which gives you a code to access the site. If you arrive outside reception hours, and you have made a reervation, we will automatically prepare an envelope for you so you can get in. The envolope will be placed in thr grey box in front of the reception. We also have a guard who can be contacted if the self check-in misbehaves. Between 11 pm and 7 am, unfortunately, it is not possible to drive onto the site.
What do I do if the gate is down?
Thegate is normally down during the day to avoid unwanted traffic, except for those living in the area. The barrier opens when you swipe an access card or enter the code you receive when you check in. At night, the barrier is closed for security and to avoid disturbance. However, it is possible to have the barrier opened in an emergency by contacting the guard.
What clothing should I bring?
The campsite staff ensure that the cabins, service buildings and all other indoor areas are warm and comfortable. Remember, though, that you spend a lot of time outdoors when camping. Check the weather forecast and pack your clothing accordingly. A windproof and waterproof jacket, comfortable trousers and hiking shoes are always good to bring. If you come outside the summer season, don’t forget a fleece or wool sweater and windproof and waterproof trousers.
By the way, the Danes love swimming in the sea, also in the winter, so if you want to camp like a Dane, always remember you swimwear, also if you arrive outside the opening period of the heated swimmingpool;-)
I thought everyone walked around in Crocs and a camping outfit – am I wrong?
Ha ha – yes, that’s probably the prejudice. But it’s far from the truth of what modern campsites look like. If that’s what you expect, you may be disappointed! People today look just like at any other holiday destination. After all, camping is a holiday form for everyone! All in all, the outdoor lifestyle is very trendy right now, so you’re more likely to meet a hipster from the city than a guest in a “camping outfit”.
What is a service building?
Our modern service buildings have toilets, showers, hand basins, washing machines, a kitchen area with dishwashing facilities and a changing table. We also have TV rooms and a activity room with foosball tables, a pool table and a kids playroom. These areas are shared by all guests, so please leave them as clean and tidy as you would like to find them. If you stay in a cabin, you may have your own kitchen, bath and toilet – but you can of course also use the service buildings. If you come with a tent or caravan but don’t want to share the toilet and shower with other campers, it’s possible to rent your very own private bathroom that only you and your family can access.
Is there a freezer / the option to buy ice cubes?
We have two frezzers on the campsite. I have one in the landry and one behind the TV room in south. You are welcome to use those, just be aware that there is only room for a few items, as everybody should be able to use them. Ice cubes can be bought in the shop. In our kitchens we also have fridges that you can use like the frezzers.
Are we allowed to fly a drone in the area?
Drone flying is not permitted on the campsite. On occation we may hire someone to make promotional videos for us. These pilots will have all necessary authorisation and will follow all rules for flying in public.
Are the service buildings open all year round?
As long as the campsite is open, the service buildings are also open.
Do I have to clean the cabin myself?
As a starting point, you must take care of the cleaning in the rented unit yourself; however, it is possible to purchase final cleaning for the Romsø and Bøgebjerg cabins, safari tents, Viby cabins and rented bathrooms. You can also choose to pay us for the cleaning. Tidying up, washing-up and waste handling cannot be purchased, and must always be taken care of before you depart. Please note that in the Stærekassen and the PigMe, you always have to do the cleaning yourself.
It's my first time arriving with my caravan – can I get some extra help positioning it if necessary?
It’s good to practise reversing your caravan before doing it on site, but as you quickly discover at a campsite, the neighbours are often helpful. It can be easier to unhitch the caravan and simply push it the last few metres. There are now accessories that let you remotely control the caravan from a radio unit while standing next to it. Isn’t technology wonderful? The neighbours are usually also happy to help with advice on how to pitch your tent. Should you get stuck, we have machines that can help you, but only when the a Campsite attendant is at work.
What time can I arrive, and when do I have to leave?
Basically, check-in is from 2 pm for a pitch and from 3 pm if you have rented a cabin or tent, so it is cleaned and nice and fresh before you arrive. Check-out is at 11 am in cabins and tents if we do the cleaning, and at 12 noon if you clean yourself. Caravans and tents must likewise leave the site by 12 noon. If you wish to stay longer, subject to availability, you can purchase late departure, allowing you to stay until 6 pm. If your pitch is reserved for the next guest on your departure day, late departure is not possible on that pitch. You can then choose to move your caravan to our car park and stay until 6 pm and buy a day visit. During the school summer holidays, late departure is typically not available.
Is there a risk of partying all night?
No, at a campsite in Denmark there are rules about quiet hours. Moreover, seasoned campers know that camping is most fun if everyone shows consideration for each other. There are, however, some formal rules about when to be extra quiet. After 11 pm there must be complete silence so everyone can get a good night’s sleep, and this is enforced by the guard. Between 12 noon and 2 pm, quiet should be maintained for a midday nap, for both children and adults. This means that during this period no machines may be used, but it is permitted to drive in and out with your car. Camp Hverringe is replacing its machinery with electric machines, but in busy periods we may occasionally have to mow the grass or similar between 12 and 2 so the site is ready for new guests.
I've switched to an electric car – can it be charged at the campsite?
At Camp Hverringe we are working on becoming more sustainable, so we are naturally prepared for more and more electric cars visiting. We have therefore installed 4 charging stations for electric cars. Just download the Spirii app and you can start charging. Note that cars may only be charged at these charging stations.
If we come as a larger group, can we sit together and eat our food?
A campsite is an obvious place to hold a family gathering – there’s room for all generations, with options both for those who have their own caravan or tent and for those who want to rent a cabin. We have great experience hosting gatherings, and several families have held their reunions here, in the heart of Denmark, for more than 25 years. We can offer accommodation close together even if you want space for caravans, tents and cabins, and with our large party tent, with room for between 70 and 120 guests, we can accommodate most things. If you are smaller groups, we have room in our kitchens and green houses for approx. 12-16 people and in our big tent by the store by our outdoor kitchens, you are welcome to sit together. Just please note that by the kitchens, greenhouses and in the tent by the store, it is not possible to book seats in advance and other guests may be there as well. If you booke at least 5 cabins you will get the privat party tent for free in your booking, provided it is available.
.
Is there room for my car on my pitch?
We always recommend parking the car in our large car park outside the gate so we can limit traffic on the site, since with almost 400 units it can quickly add up to a lot of cars driving back and forth. But at all units, from tent pitches without electricity to our cabins, it is possible to park one car. If you come with more than one car, the extra car must be parked in the car park outside the barrier. If you arrive by motorcycle, you can park that on your pitch togehter with your car. You just need a special access card for the motor bike. If you arrive by motor bike we ask you to be mindful of the fact, that it is more noisy that a car, and we therefore ask you to minimize its use on the campground.
My caravan has a toilet cassette, but I'd rather not empty it myself?
We can quickly agree that it’s not the most fun job. But we’ve tried to make the work easier by installing a CamperClean machine, which takes care of everything. All you have to do is put the toilet cassette and a DKK 10 coin into the machine, and it handles the rest – even the liquid is refilled – so all you have to do is take the cassette out of the machine and put it back in the caravan. It couldn’t be easier.
Is there free access to the service buildings?
Yes, all guests staying overnight at the site have free access to the buildings. Since Camp Hverringe is located next to a popular swimming beach, the toilets and bathrooms have card readers on the doors, so that only guests staying at the campground can acces the building, so our cleaning staff can keep them nice and clean. There are 3 toilets on the site that are not locked, so children can easily use the toilet without a card. Cards are handed out at the reception. They are free of charge but must be returned upon departure. If a card is lost, it costs DKK 50. If you don’t want a card, a wristband can be bought.
I've never camped before – which pitch should I choose?
We have tent pitches with or without electricity, and you can park by your tent; but if you sleep in the car, you should instead choose a motorhome pitch or one of our pitches for caravans. Our standard pitches are generally at least 10×10 m, and when you book online you can see the dimensions of each pitch. With online booking you can also choose to book a specific pitch, so you can freely choose the type of pitch you want and where on the site you would like to be. Should it be a pitch with a view, one close to the playground, or one close to the water?
If you arrive by campervan we have the option to choose a pitch both with or without electricity and you can stay both inside or outside the gate.
Does it cost anything to shower?
No, at Camp Hverringe showers are included in the price, but we want to help protect the environment, so we’ve installed a timer in all our shower cubicles so you can see how long you take. So we do ask you t keep the showers short in order to save the drinking water of the future.
Our dog is part of the family – can it come along?
Absolutely! Dogs are very welcome at Camp Hverringe. All dogs must be kept on a leash – including the ones that “don’t do anything” and “just want to say hi”. It costs DKK 30 per day to bring a dog. If you are staying in one of our rental units, a dog-friendly unit must be booked, with an extra fee of DKK 100 per unit on top of the price. Please note that dogs are not allowed in our Viby cabins.
I've heard something about a camping pass – do I need one?
No! It is no longer a requirement to have a camping pass, as long as you can show some form of ID.
Can I get online?
Here you’ll find plenty of opportunity to disconnect and enjoy a break from the internet. If you do need to get online, we do have wi-fi on the camp ground but it is not very strong.
Free wireless hot spots are available in our TV rooms in the south and in the activity house in the north. Please note that the internet is not suitable for streaming, and during periods with many guests on site, capacity may be limited. Here we recommend that you go to the hot spots and download what ever you want to see.
Are there facilities for the disabled at Camp Hverringe?
In our buildings closest to the reception, we have a disabled bathroom with wheelchair access. We have pitches from which you can travel on a paved path all the way to the disabled bathroom. We also have ramps to some of our kitchens, our laundry and the reception. Our store has no doorstep, so you can access it easily and we have a paved passage towards the beach so you can reach the grass in front og the beach.
If you need a pitch with particular peace and quiet, please contact the reception and we can find a good area for you.
Is there a laundry room on the site?
We have a laundry room at the campsite with both washing machines and dryers. Tokens can be bought in the reception. The dryers are paid with your key card, which you receive on arrival. Dryer usage is settled upon departure. Remember to bring your own detergent.
I'm unhappy about sharing a bathroom with others?
No problem! At Camp Hverringe we have private rental bathrooms in both the north and south sections. They can be rented so that only you have access during your stay. If you rent one, it is your private bathroom and no one else will use it. Private bathrooms must be rented through the reception. Note that we have a limited number. You can choose to do the end cleaning yourself or you can pay us to do it.
I'd like to bring a boat – is that possible?
Camp Hverringe is located right on the Great Belt, and there are excellent opportunities for a sailing trip, both to enjoy nature or to fish. From the campsite, you can sail to either Fyns Hoved or Kerteminde. Camp Hverringe is a Havørred Fyn (Sea Trout Funen) partner, as there are some very good sea trout fishing spots around the campsite.
It is therefore of course possible to bring a boat when you stay overnight at the site. If your boat is under 10 feet, it can sit on the pitch you have rented at no extra cost. If the boat is larger than 10 feet, it may still sit on your pitch, but your car must then be parked in the car park on the other side of Blæsenborgvej.
We have a really nice slipway with a jetty at the site, and if you’d like more space on your pitch, you can rent a boat space near the slipway. We also have a fish cleaning table, right at the beach and a smoking oven.
Can you fish nearby?
You bet! The whole of Hindsholm is a sea trout mecca, which is also why Camp Hverringe is a Havørred Fyn partner. There are plenty of good fishing spots in the area, several within walking distance. We prefer that no one fishes from the swimming beach at the site, and it is not permitted to fish from our bathing jetty, but with Måle Beach just 1 km away, that’s no problem.
At the site we have a fish cleaning station and a smoking oven, both freely available as long as fish waste is well wrapped before being thrown out. Remember that a fishing licence is required if you are over 18 – it can be bought at Fisketegn.dk.
Are all activities available all season?
Our large playground, trampolines, bouncy cushions, ball courts, disc golf, clock golf, krolf, bow and arrow and the goat pen can all be used all season. Other activities, such as our heated pool and pony rides, are only possible at certain times of the year.
As a rule of thumb, our pool is open during the June , July and August. Pony riding and other activities requiring staff will only be offered occasionally. Our water trampoline goes out when summer really gets going and visitor numbers rise.
Check our activity calendar to see which activities take place and when. In the high season, outside providers also come with exciting activities such as helicopter rides, beach and fishing fun, flag tours and much more.
Furthermore we are located in an area with a lot of exciting museums, local farm shops and beautiful nature, so you can find something to do all season.

Depending on which cancellation pack you have bought, you may be able to cancel or change your booking by contacting the reception. If you have not bought a cancellation pack we are not able to make a refund, but we are happy to give you a confimation, if you need that for your own insurance company. The same goes if you have already started your stay, in which case none of our cancellations packs cover a refund.

What payment options are there?
In the reception you can pay by [cash, debit/credit card and MobilePay]. The online booking is paid by [card]. Washing machines take coins or you can buy a token at reception, and for the dryers the key cards and you pay for your usage when you check out and you have to apy for electricity anyway. Is there a minimum number of nights in the high season?
Only for our cabins during public holiday periods and high season. During public holidays, cabins must be booked for the full holiday period. In high season, cabin bookings run from Saturday to Saturday—giving you a whole week to perfect the art of doing absolutely nothing!
For our camping pitches, there’s no minimum stay. One night or a longer escape? You’re welcome either way.
Planning a longer stay on a pitch? A seasonal pitch could offer better value. We have spring-season, whole-season, part-season and autumn- options—well worth a look if you’re not quite ready to go home! Learn more about that here: Sæsonpladser – Camp Hverringe
Can we spend the night in our car/van?
Sleeping in your car? Your four-wheeled bedroom is welcome on a motorhome pitch or one of our standard pitches. Tent pitches are reserved for the canvas crowd, so sleeping in your car isn’t permitted there. And don’t worry—staying on a motorhome pitch gives you access to all our service buildings, too. No need to brush your teeth in the rear-view mirror! Both inside and outside the gate, you can choose pitches both with or without acces to electricity. On the pitches outside the gate, you can also choose if you want acces to the campsite or not.
Are dogs allowed on the beach?
Yes! Bøgebjerg Beach is freely accessible, and dogs are welcome to join you for a seaside sniffari. Please keep your dog on a leash on the beach, in the woods and throughout the campsite.
Dogs aren’t allowed inside our buildings or in the pool area—even if they’ve packed their swimming goggles!
We do have a dog shower for sandy paws and a fenced dog enclosure where your four-legged friend can run off-leash and let those holiday zoomies loose.
Are there any restrictions on dogs – size or breed?
Dogs of all sizes are welcome—from pocket-sized adventurers to gentle giants! Just keep your four-legged travel companion on a leash and pick up any little “souvenirs” they leave behind.
Please note that dogs are not allowed in our Viby cabins. An additional dog fee applies to stays in our other cabins and on our camping pitches—even if your dog promises to be on their very best behaviour!
Is barbecuing allowed – and can we make a campfire?
You’re welcome to barbecue on your own pitch—just keep your barbecue stable and your neighbours happy. The smell of dinner is fine; a smoke screen is less charming! Charcoal and disposable barbecues must be placed on a safe, heat-resistant surface—never on a wooden terrace. We’d prefer your sausages to be the only things getting grilled. Open fires are only allowed at our communal fire pit or along the beach. If you light at fire on the beach, please make sure you are not close to anything flamable and please walk along the beach before you find a good spot. Once your disposable barbecue has cooled completely, place it in the designated container. Never put a hot barbecue in a waste bin—our bins aren’t smokers! Please the long periods of draught may result in a ban on barbecuing and open fire.
Where do we sort our waste?
You’ll find several recycling stations around the campsite for glass, metal, paper/cardboard, plastic, food waste and general waste. Please sort your rubbish carefully—even empty bottles deserve to find the right crowd!
Fish waste must be securely wrapped before disposal or sailed far out to sea. Please help us keep the campsite and beach pleasant for everyone—our guests prefer swimming with the fish to bumping into yesterday’s catch!
Is there a place to empty the motorhome's waste tank?
Yes, there is a station for emptying waste water and filling up with fresh water right inside the gate. It is free for guests staying at the site, however if you stay outside the gate, you will need to pay a fee to use the station. At the station you will find our CamperClean.
Can we receive post and parcels during our stay?
Yes, parcels can be sent to Camp Hverringe, Blæsenborgvej 200, DK-5780 Dalby. Make sure your name and pitch no. is on the parcel. It is not possible to move your adress to Camp Hverringe. You can only stay here, if you have a home adress somewhere else.
How far is it to the supermarket, pharmacy and doctor?
The nearest supermarket is in SPAR i Måle, 5 km, otherwise you will find many other stores. The out-of-hours doctor is in Kerteminde, 10 km, and the pharmacy in Kerteminde/Odense, 25 km. Ask at the reception if you are unsure – we are happy to help.
Please note that if you want to go to the doctor or the emergency room, you will need to call ahead and get an appointment. It is not possible to just show up without an appointment.
Is there public transport nearby?
The public transport close to the campsite is not very good. But honestly, we recommend the bike or the car – it’s easiest out here on Hindsholm. If you do want to use public transport we recommend that you use Flextur. That is an offer for the bus company on Funen. You call a few hours in advance and make an appointment.
